Let Your Conversation Be...
I went fishing with two great older friends, Lonnie and Robert (better known as "Captain"). I looked at those two men and thought about the fun we have had over the years, and all I had learned from them. So I said, "Can I tell the two of you something?"
Captain never moved his head and with a straight face said to his preacher, "If it ain't nasty."
When I finished laughing, I thought of the verse from Ephesians 5:4, "Dirty stories, foul talk, and coarse jokes-these are not for you. Instead, remind each other of God's goodness, and be thankful."

False Witness
When asked the definition of a lie, a little boy in Sunday School once declared, "A lie is an abomination to God and an ever present help in time of need."
Mark Twain said, "When in doubt tell the truth."
The Saturday Evening Post once reported, "The trouble with stretching the truth is that it is apt to snap back!" Falsehoods may have their day, but they have no future.
Can we even know what the truth is anymore? Yes, when we remember that real truth is not an idea or principle, but a person. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me."
