Just Praise God

Habakkuk, the prophet, surveys his situation and finds it less than wanting. There is no harvest in the fields. There is no fruit on the trees nor on the vines. The flocks and herds will likely not survive. Yet, in the midst of this, Habakkuk says, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord” (3:18). Notice that the prophet turned his eyes from his circumstances and rejoiced in God. Life is uncertain but God is unchangeable. God remains in control even when life seems out of control. He is aware of all our situations, and He cares.

We may not understand or like our circumstances, but we can praise God for who He is.

Psalm 150:1-2 (ESV)

1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!

2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
